Research on Nonlinear Buckling and Collapse of Deepsea Pipes
Due to the fact that subsea pipelines encounter buckling and collapse under high pressure, this paper adopts an integrated approach of theoretical analysis, numerical simulation and full scale test to calculate their critical buckling load and to study multiple effects their physical parameters and defects of pipes have on buckling. Theoretical analysis is conducted with the application of a highorder nonlinear model- the circular ring model. In this model, factors such as large deflection and elastoplasticity are taken into account. Results of theoretical analysis indicate that the ovality of the pipe is identical along the axis in pre-buckling phase. Numerical simulations are facilitated with ABAQUS. Full scale test is performed in a pressure chamber in our laboratory. Results of all three methods presented highly consistent with each other.
