The Basalt Fiber and the Substitution Study on Repair of Aircraft Structures
Aeroplane composite material is in expanding usage continuously. Basalt, a natural mineral material, environmentally -friendly, gradually becomes a new substitute in the composite group. This article discusses the current development of basalt, its techniques, physical and mechanical characteristics; analysis mechanical capabilities and rules of carbon fiber, glass fibers and aromatic nylon fibers through laminated boards; and evaluates the substitution of basalt fiber. Based on these data, this article raises the substitutable usages in aeroplane structural amendment and maintenance, while makes experimental validations on its replacement of glass fiber.
