Analysis of Slope Stability Considering Groundwater Variations in NPUST
Slope failures triggered by earthquake activities and heavy rainfalls occur frequently, especially after the heavy rainfalls. This study is to understand the mechanism of slope failures and look for the way dealing with the situation. To achieve these objectives, this paper is based on theoretical and simulation analysis to present an application of the STABL program to assess the potential slope sliding behavior. The results showed an intimate relationship between the landslide behavior of the slopes and the rainfall. It is found rainfall and permeate of groundwater that result in the rise of groundwater level is the main reason of the landslide mechanism. The groundwater vein-stream and its flow direction have need to research in the future, and then right horizontal drain should be set up at corrective location, that can effectively restrain landslide and increase stability of slope.
