Analysis on Mechanical Characteristics of Overload Pre-cracked RC Beams Strengthened with CFRP
23 scale reinforcement concrete beams were precracked by different overload amplitude of 0.85Mu, 1.0Mu, 1.2Mu, and then strengthened with CFRP sheets. The deflection and strain of test beams were measured with repeated, load value before and after strengthening. The internal force distribution in initial concrete structure and strengthening material was analyzed by comparing test results to theoretical predictions. It can be concluded that the precracking status and overload amplitude value has little influence on ultimate bearing capacity and stiffness of strengthened beams. But the repeated number of overload has much influence on deflection of beams when overload value is close up to or surpasses the theoretical bearing load limit. For strengthened beams, the resistance moment proportion assigned to the initial pre-cracked concrete beam in test is a little larger than the theory predictions which havent considered the initial cracking status.
