Analysis of Lighting Distribution Model Considering Directivity
The regional distribution of lightning showing in density map is a very important content in meteorology information. To overcome the shortcomings of the pixel density model, e.g. scattered distribution, lack of continuousness and smoothness, this paper analyzed and introduced Representative Elementary Area (REA) to ensure the continuousness and smoothness of density distribution in larger area. Coordinate system transformation, based on the principle of maximum variance, and the ellipse area process were used to show the band directivity distribution of lightning. Applied case indicates this REA model can effectively reflect the physical nature and statistic feature of the lightning distribution.
