Effect of Limited Movable Range of Movable Bearing on the Inelastic Seismic Response of the movable Support Pier of Continuous Beam Bridges
If the Movable bearing was damaged or the restrainer was installed at the movable support pier, the movable range of the movable bearing will be limited; as the result, the movable support pier may be destroyed because it suffered greater earthquake action than expected in the normal analysis. The finite element model for the bearing with limited movable range was put forward. Three models for a continuous bridge were established and the nonlinear time-history analysis was performed, the inelastic seismic response of the movable support pier and the fixed pier of different models were extracted and compared, the results indicate that the seismic response of the movable support pier is greater than normal analysis. So the earthquake action of the movable pier should be sufficiently estimated to ensure the movable support pier has adequate antiseismic ability.
