On the ecological design strategies for the contemporary new urban development
The rapid urbanization causes ecological crisis and the environmental pressure globally, especially in rapid urbanization of Asia and China, the new city and new district development are the main urbanization mode ,which are also the main path of a suburb urbanization. These new developments occupied a lot of land, consume a lot of resources. The large scale urban construction, traffic and city life produce large amounts of carbon emissions, thus, new developments must take sustainable technologies and strategies, these strategies reduce carbon emission in new city construction process, as well as it make the new built city into environmental, social economical, cultural and humanities sustainable artificial environment; into healthy and safety city. This paper reviewed the exploration ecological city mode as the representative of the sustainable new urban planning and construction, introduced systematically planning approach and technologies application for sustainable development as well as the reference evaluation key indicators. The urbanization in Asia and China should carry out a comprehensive sustainable urban design and practice. It is the important transformation and mission of the contemporary urban development.
