Regional Coverage Monitoring for Structural Surface Deformation Based on Ultrasonic Wave
Underground structures need to undergo regional coverage monitoring, and this issue remains a challenge for current deformation monitoring technologies. Utilizing the divergent feature of an ultrasonic beam, a high-coverage regional monitoring method for structural surface deformation is presented in the current work. First, the space and mathematical models for the ultrasonic beam are established. Based on the distance measuring principle of ultrasonic wave, a non-deterministic method is proposed. It only suggests the deformation state of the structural surface and does not define the specific point within the measurement area. Then the monitoring scope of a single ultrasonic beam is determined to locate the monitoring position. Second, a method which can suggest non-quantitatively that the deformation location is close to the edge of the region or to the center of the region is introduced via the historical data recorded. Finally, a simulation environment for structural deformation is established in the laboratory to illustrate the method.
