Study the Group Delay and Dielectric Constant of Volatile Organic Compounds Using Close-Ended Coaxial Airline Probe with Combined Methods Study the GD and Dielectric Constant of VOCs

Online group-delay, complex permeability and permittivity measurement are made possible with the aid of smart measurement system like vector network analyzer (VNA) and time domain reflectometer (TDR). In this paper a simple procedure with the combination of VNA and TDR was used to study the dielectric properties of volatile organic compounds. The groupdelay and dielectric constant of the materials are correlated, i.e., the higher the group-delay, the higher the dielectric constant. The group-delay is proportional to the real part of permittivity of the dielectric materials. Partial software has been developed to obtain the results and calculate the dielectric constant and group-delay of any liquid materials. The group-delay results obtained from TDR and VNA are compared and found to be very close to each other. The measured dielectric constants are in complete agreement with the reference values of standard dielectric material solvents, demonstrating the validity of the proposed measurement method.
