Experimental Validation of the Fractional Order Initialization Technique with a Heat Transfer System

The initial conditions and practical initialization problems in Fractional Calculus are addressed in this paper. The initialization technique is based on the fractional integrator concept and its infinite dimension state variable. This technique is applied to initialize the temperature response of a real heat transfer pilot. State estimation of the fractional model is performed by an observer based technique. Comparison with a direct technique demonstrates that estimation of the infinite dimension internal state variable is required for fractional order model initialization.
