Fractional Order Dynamic Modeling of Crowd Pedestrians

Motivated by the complexity of spatial-temporal patterns, fractional order model of crowd dynamics has been proposed in this paper based on the popular Lighthill-Whitham- Richards Model (LWR) model for tra.c system. Comparing with previous models for tra.c systems and models for crowd pedestrian system, space and time characteristics are included and powerful tools from fractional calculus such as fractal derivatives are employed for approximating the nature of social crowd dynamics. To the authors?knowledge, there are no fractional order dynamic models for crowd pedestrians so far. Observed complex phenomenons such as fractal dimensions, power law and scale-invariant property are presented to validate the applications of fractional calculus in modeling of tra.c and crowd pedestrian dynamics. Future investigations related to crowd pedestrian systems are also included in this paper.
