Agricultural Effluent Treatmentby Large Filamentous Green Algaewithin Water Drainage Channel in Cold Season
Water treatment by algal pond is one of the promising methods to realize the simultaneous achievement of water treatment and biomass production. And it can be applicable for the treatment of non-point water pollution sources such as agricultural effluent. In this study, the nutrient removal performance of model agricultural effluent by filamentous green algae (Spirogyra sp.) in cold season was investigated using open-air experimental channels. The fate of ammonium nitrogen was monitored as an indicator. As a result, under the condition of 4℃ in average water temperature, 21% and 12% of ammonium nitrogen removals were observed at 10 and 6 day in average hydraulic retention time, respectively.
