Article Explorer and Training College Students Fast-reading Ability
Teaching fast-reading has been become an important aspect of college English teaching and CET-4 and CET6. The article firstly points out that learning to read fast to absorb increasingly explosive amount of information from different media is a necessity for college students, but to read fast is a challenge for many Chinese students. Therefore, based on previous literatures, the article, afterwards, introduces a program, Article Explorer, which requires students to accumulate articles for their own after class reading and is to use extensive reading activity to capitalize on students own potential to develop into self-regulated and autonomous learners. Finally, the author analyzes the effectiveness of Article Explorer in terms of broadening students knowledge horizon, overcoming their laziness, enlarging their vocabulary and making them adjusting reading strategies.
