A Network Laboratory Service Cloud Prototype Architecture

In this paper, we presented our approach toward building a Computer Networks Laboratory Service Platform (NLS-Cloud) where students could freely practice on designing, configuring, and troubleshooting a network scenario. First, it outlined the architecture as well as main components of NLS-Cloud, which was created to provide a virtual lab environment for education in the areas of computer networks. It is a flexible learning environment that is simple to use and is equally accessible by on- and off-campus students. Second, we also presented a practical assignment workflow on NLS-Cloud for reference, and discussed a typical assignment that can be given using the NLS-Cloud but would be difficult to conduct in a physical lab.
