A Brief Introduction to Foundations of Cooperative English Teaching Research Between Universities and Primary & High Schools
Cooperative English teaching research (CETR) between universities and primary & high schools has been able to exist because of its solid foundations. By reviewing literatures, this essay argues that CETR has its theoretical and realistic foundations. Its theoretical foundation includes at least six theories, such as cooperative principle (CP), social interdependence theory, social constructivist theory, symbiotic theory, gaming theory, and social interaction theory. And its realistic foundation is listed as follows: (1) strong points of both parties provide a realistic possibility to cooperate in CETR; (2) solving English teaching problems is the motivation for both parties to cooperate in CETR; (3) English teachers professional development is the internal need for both parties to cooperate in CETR; (4) Organizing activities of CETR provides a platform for combining teaching theories and practice; lastly, Cooperative research community provides an organization for CETR.
