A Corpus-Based Study of Chinese Students of English Majors Use of Stance Adverbials in Their Oral Production
In daily communication people need to convey propositional meanings and also inevitably express their stance. That is, their attitudes, feelings or value judgments. By employing Bibers classification of stance adverbials in the present research and with the help of the lexical analysis tool AntConc3.2.1, Log-likelihood and Pearson Correlation Tests of SPSS 11.5, the researchers investigate the characteristics of stance adverbials used by English learners in the Spoken English Corpus of Chinese Learners (SECCL) of Spoken and Written English Corpus of Chinese Learners (SWECCL), analyze the relationship between the use of stance adverbials and oral performance, aiming to help teachers improve their oral English teaching and students correctly use stance adverbials
