Analysis of Addressing Terms in A Dream of Red Mansions --From a Pragmatic Point of View
This paper aims to study the addressing term from the pragmatic point of view, and to uncover the dynamic feature of it. From the three aspects of politeness, dynamic context and communicative motivation, addressing terms are analyzed as dynamic factors in language use. The theories of Distance Principle of Politeness by Wang Jianhua and Verschueren Dynamic Context are served as the theoretical framework in and examples from the novel A Dream of Red Mansions are used in analysis.
