Roles of Foreign Language Teachers in Learner Autonomy
Foreign language teachers play an important role in learner autonomy. The change from the traditional learning pattern to learner autonomy means changes in role of the language teacher. Based on the methods of classification and contrast, the present study shows that the teacher mainly plays the parts of a counselor, administrator and resource provider in the development of learner autonomy. How these roles are played by the teacher will determine whether students will become true autonomous language learners.
