The Differences in Eye Movements for Professional and Novice Sanda Athletes: An Experimental Research
This research examines the differences in eye movements for professional and novice Sanda athletes to reveal the critical factors in contributing to their competition performance. Relying on the eye movement data collected through an eye tracker, this research finds that there are great differences in the characteristics of information processing for the professional and novice Sanda athletes. Specifically, the expert group, as opposed to the novice group, shows higher performance in judgment accuracy, greater number of fixation, longer fixation time, and lower degree of fixation frequency. This research contributes to the literature by revealing the eye movement differences for professional and novice Sanda athletes, but, due to the ecological validity, future field studies are needed to validate the findings presented in this research.
