Research on the Mental Health Status of Chinese Sports Doctoral Students and Its Effective Factors
The mental health status of 103 sports doctoral students in China was assessed by the Symptom Check List 90. Results showed that 13.6% of sports doctoral students were found to have some possible psychological problems and 0.97% of them were found to have moderately severe psychological problems. Their factorial scores on somatization, interpersonal sensitivity, hostility, terror, paranoid ideation and the total average scores were lower than those of the national norm in adults. And their factorial scores on obsession, depression, anxiety and psychoticism were higher than those of the national norm in adults. Meanwhile, their factorial scores and total average scores were different in gender, studying type, grade and marital status. Generally speaking, the mental health status of the sports doctoral students in China needed further improvement which might be effected by some factors such as the Chinese traditional concept, the sports doctors training program, the committed family roles and so on.
