Binary Block Motion Estimation Based on Edge Information
2BT utilizes mean and standard deviation of a transforming block to get the two bit-planes. Although the two thresholds are adaptive,there exists computation redundancy. For a previous matched block,its near blocks may exist some correlation with it in spatial. They may get approximate means and standard deviations. To reduce the computation redundancy,the proposal algorithm is based on image edge information using global thresholds. For binary block motion estimations,more image information is utilized and more precise binary block motion estimation is. To compare,we just use one-directional edge information and two global transforming thresholds,in our method. Although the thresholds are not adaptive,it can give better performances in small blocks than 2BT. The experiments demonstrated that our algorithm can extract more image information and get some PSNR gain.
