Characterization of Vibration Performance of Fiber Gyro Coils

We investigate both theoretically and experimentally the effects of vibration on fiber gyros induced by the non-reciprocity of fiber coils. We derive an expression to show that the error rate of a fiber gyro is linearly proportional to the amplitude and frequency of a sinusoidal acceleration,and introduce a parameter called vibration sensitivity to characterize the vibration performance of a gyro coil. Finally,we experimentally confirm the linear relationship and determine the vibration sensitivity of different coils,with and without adhesives,and verify that applying adhesive to fiber coils can indeed significantly reduce vibration sensitivity of fiber coils.
