Application of Chaotic Particle Swarm Optimization to Reactive Power Optimization

By incorporating Chaotic search into Particle Swarm Optimization (CPSO),this paper proposed a novel method for reactive power optimization. First,to improve the optimizing performance,chaotic search was introduced which helps to overcome the premature convergence of standard PSO. Then,A shrinking strategy was applied to the local search range to further refine the search results. Finally the CPSO algorithm was employed to the reactive power optimization. Simulation results show that the proposed method has the advantages of more stability,higher optimizing precision and strong global searching ability. The CPSO is a promising approach for the reactive power optimization.
