Implementation and Effective Evaluation of the Portable MOODLE E-learning Platform
Due to such factors as urban-rural gap and economic income lag,E-learning has not been that much prevalent in the rural areas, resulting in the existing E-learning lag in the said places. In this era of advanced Internet and technology use,the promotion of E-learning is one of the important strategies to reduce the urban-rural gap. Therefore, this paper proposes the use of a Portable E-learning Platform (PELP),which converts the Elearning server from the original host type to CD type by using Live-CD technology to make a portable and easy-to-install E-learning server. Regardless of whether the user is capable of setting up a server or not,it just takes less than 4 minutes to build an Elearning platform by using the PELP Live-CD developed in this study, which can then provide E-learning service. The local area network (LAN) can be only established in some rural areas that have a small network bandwidth due to geological limitations. Moreover, rural areas also have a shortage of IT talents. From this perspective, the PELP developed in this study which integrates the features of CD-media portability and free application of the relevant software is quite a powerful tool to improve the Elearning environment in rural areas. This paper will describe how to implement the PELP,and will also evaluate its effectiveness in practical application.
