A Method of Divided Difference Particle Filter for X-ray Pulsars Navigation

X-ray pulsar navigation is a typical nonlinear filtering problem. This paper analyzes the nonlinear error of the traditional filtering algorithms, and introduces a new type of particle filter by integrating the divided difference filter (DDF) with a particle filtering framework for improving the accuracy of the X-ray pulsar navigation. The results based on the simulation experiments using real orbit parameter indicate that the Divided Difference Particle Filter(DDPF) performs better than the Unscented Kalman Filter(UKF) and the divided difference filter, and the position estimation accuracy can be increased by 40%.
