Introduction of the Preventive Conservation of the Architecture in the Palace Museum and Thinking of the Routine Checking Mode
As the largest and best maintained palace complex in the world, the Forbidden City is always attracting the publics attention. How to conserve this World Cultural Heritage in good condition is the issue pondered by the staff in the Palace Museum. This paper summarizes the preventive conservation of the architecture in the Palace Museum in the perspective of prevention of the disaster, monitoring of the structural safe, examination and analysis of the architectural material, periodic investigation and routine maintenance. By analyzing the protective methods mentioned above, the results of the routine maintenance are regarded as the important factors to effectively actualize the preventive conservation. At present, the Palace Museum gains some experience in the routine checking and maintenance, but some problem still exist. On the basis of the practice, the author tries to promote personal suggestion on the mode of routine checking from three aspects, the process of checking, the methods of checking and the management system. Meanwhile, explaining the importance and imminence of the establishment of routine checking mode with two cases.
