Sexual Perception of Female Participation in Politics in the Revolution of 1911

Female national awareness is the main symbol of female political awareness, and the primary content of womens rights. During the revolution period, females lake the responsibility of country members, expecting they will share the same rights with men after the success of the revolution. When Nanjing Interim Government founded, women were full of expectations. For the first time in Chinese history, they proposed that they should participate in government and political affairs. At the same time, they launched a campaign to participate in government and political affairs. There proposal was rejected by the Yuan Shih-kais Interim Government in Beijing. Also the proposal was not approved of by Nanjing Interim Government controlled by the revolutionary left party led by Dr. Sun Yat-sen. The failure of womens participation in government and political affairs symbolized obvious sexual discrimination and was closely related to the weakness of women and their misunderstanding on the cognition of gender roles.
