Pitting of LY12CZ aluminum alloy under corrosion-deformation interactions (CDI)
Effects of CDI on pitting corrosion behavior of LY12CZ in 3% NaCl aqueous solution are investigated by electrochemical techniques. The results show that CDI could lead to negative shift of free potential, breakdown potential and protection potential of LY12CZ and enhance the pitting sensitivity of LY12CZ. The electrochemical impedance spectrum results show that Rp decreases significantly under applied stress and Rp can be taken as the indicator to evaluate the effect of CDI. Different strain rate could influence CDI effect on corrosion behavior and the effect of CDI exhibits more significantly under low strain rate.
