Determination of mechanical properties of laser cladding H13-TiC composite coating
H13-TiC composite coating with 22 vol.% TiC particles were prepared with laser cladding on H13 die steel substrate. Nanoindentation experiments with Berkovich indenter were carried out to determine the hardness and Youngs modulus of the metal substrate and TiC ceramic reinforced material. The effect of indentation depth on results has been considered. Microcrack was found in the particle indentation test, which severely influence the indentation results.
