Reasons and Legal Measures for the Lack of Social Responsibility of Multinational Corporations in China
In recent years, the social responsibility events of multinational corporations have happened frequently in China, such as the commercial bribery, the violation of labor rights, the violation of consumer rights, the serious environmental pollution, etc. There are close relationships with the inadequate supervision of the governments, the imperfect legal system and the double standards of the multinational corporations. However, many scholars in China analyse social responsibility of multinational corporations from the policy perspective, and few have considered the imperfection of laws. The legislation of the social responsibility of multinational corporations has become the common choice. For the above-mentioned reasons, China should improve the legislation of the social responsibility of multinational corporations. And by canceling super national treatment, perfecting the relevant substantive laws and procedural laws, through strengthening the administrative enforcement, and by enhancing law-abiding consciousness of multinational corporations, all those will help urge the multinational corporations to fulfill their social responsibilities.
