Overview on research of Nanofluids and its Application

Study on convective heat transfer using nanometersized solid particles suspended in conventional base fluids started only over the past decade. It has been founded that heat transfer characteristics have been remarkably developed by nanofluids application. The study focuses on dispersion of MWCNTs and Al2O3 into water with application by force convection and in oscillating heat pipe. Stability and Particle size distribution of nanofluid as well as planetary ball mill effect on MWCNT have been investigated. The study also focuses on the investigation on mixed convection behaviours for water base combined nanofluids of MWCNTs and Al2O3. The percentage of Al2O3 nanoparticles in the base fluid was in the range of 2% to 6% in weight. The weight percentage of MWCNTs was below 0.5%. The augmentation of heat transfer increases with increasing the fraction of nanoparticles in base fluid. New combined nanofluids characteristics were compared with single type nanofluids under laminar flow regime. The concept of combined nanofluids may have some good attitude against forming agglomeration as well as having increased thermal conductivity. It can be said the result and characteristics of new nanofluids will have some significant influence over the field of heat transfer.
