Performance Test of a Solar-Assisted High Temperature Heat Pump for Steam Generation
This paper deals with the performance experiment and analysis of a novel solar-assisted high temperature heat pump for steam generation. The vapour compression cycle heat pump system consist of compressor, pre-heater, internal heat exchanger, evaporator, expansion valve, vertical steam generator, solar collector, water pump, level control, and paraffin thermal storage and working with isobutane (R-600a) refrigerant. Heat from solar collector was used as a heat load in the evaporator. A full day test of this heat pump was done to obtain the heat pump performance. For a cloudy day test, the output temperature of vapour could reach 102°C at steam pressure 1.2 bar. Maximum COP of the heat pump can reach 1.8 and maximum pressure ratio of the heat pump was 4.33. At this condition, the thermal storage works with satisfaction as a latent thermal storage.
