MODELLING OF DRYING UNDER SUPERHEATED STEAM
The aim of this paper is to take in consideration all the steps that take place in superheated steam drying; initial condensation on the surface of the materials under drying, diffusion of the condensed vapour at the surface to the interior of the materials during the initial condensation period, evaporation of the initially condensed vapour, and finally drying of the whole particle due to receding core model.Understanding these steps are very important for controlling the quality and the sticking behaviour of the materials under superheated steam drying process.The simulation of the steps were done with MATLAB, numerical solutions with finite difference Euler’s method is used to do the simulation that describes those steps above.The resulted data were formulated in figures showing the behaviour of the whole drying process.Comparison the theoretical results from this study with experimental data was left for further investigations.
