Experimental modelling of vacuum infrared radiation drying of Rehmanniae

Vacuum infrared radiation drying has recently received more and more attention because of its effective and successful applications in drying some types of agricultural products.A mathematical model which allows prediction of the changes of moisture ratio of Rehmanniae undergoing vacuum infrared radiation drying with a self-transformed dryer was developed.Based on the comparison between the predicted results and the experimental ones, it was found that the model could illustrate very well the changes of the moisture ratio and the influence of drying parameters radiation board’s temperature T and pressure in drying chamber P on the drying curves.Finally, a temperature-related and pressure-related mathematical expression for correlating effective moisture diffusivity Deff and the moisture content of Rehmanniae was developed.
