THIN-LAYER DISTILLING OF FERMENTED GRAINS WITH STEAM
Fuel Ethanol was obtained by distilling of the solid-state fermented biomass, which represents as a potential way to produce renewable fuel.In this process, the objective material is ethanol and it is not necessary to consider other contents like aromatic compounds as is essential in Chinese traditional alcohol distillation. In this paper, the characteristics of steam distilling of fermented grains were investigated by distilling of the fermented grains in thin-layer with steam, and interpreted by means of steam drying. The results indicated that, with increasing of steam flow rate, the ethanol removal rate is improved, and the efficiency of heat transfer and ethanol yield decreased; with the increasing of inlet steam temperature but under atmospheric pressure, the constant distillation rate and ethanol yield keep invariant.
