ULTRASONIC DISPERSION AND CRYOGENIC TENSILE PROPERTIES OF POLY-DICYCLOPENTADIENE COMPOSITES WITH CARBON NANOFIBERS OR NANOCOILS

Cryogenic tensile properties of polydicyclopentadiene (poly-DCPD) composites with carbon nanofibers (CNFs) or carbon nanocoils (CNCs) have been investigated experimentally.Flat tensile specimens of poly-DCPD composites with 0.25,0.5,1.0 and 1.5vol% CNFs or CNCs were fabricated by an ultrasonic method and tested at room temperature (RT) and liquid nitrogen temperature (77K).The effect of ultrasonication time on the cryogenic tensile properties of poly-DCPD composites with CNFs or CNCs was discussed.A scanning electron microscope (SEM) was also used to observe the fracture surface morphology of poly-DCPD composites.
