IRRADIATION-INDUCED THERMO-MECHANICAL COUPLING IN DISPERSION NUCLEAR FUEL ELEMENTS
Dispersion nuclear fuel elements are widely used in the research and test reactors.Due to their high burnup, they have promising prospects to be used in GEN IV advanced reactors, and to be an alternative to transmute the long-lived actinides in nuclear wastes.Besides irradiation experiments, numerical simulation and theoretical analysis become important methods to optimize design and interpret the failure mechanism. The components in the nuclear reactors are exposed in an extreme environment,so the irradiation damage interactions must be considered in order to predict their life-time.A review is presented of our recent studies.
