DESIGN OF POLYMERIC UHMWPE-BASED COMPOSITES WITH INCREASED TRIBOTECHNICAL PROPERTIES BY MECHANICAL ACTIVATION,ION IMPLANTATION,CHEMICAL MODIFICATION AND NANOFILLER ENFORCEMENT
Influence of Mechanical Activation (MA),Chemical Modification (ChM),Ion Implantation (Mm) and adding different size fillers (nano- and micro) onto physical-mechanical and tribotechnical properties of Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene (UHMWPE) are investigated.By means of X-ray diffraction,IRspectroscopy,DSC and SEM the structure and wearing pattern for a number of UHMWPE-based composite enforced by C and A12O3 nanofibers,Cu h SiO2 nanoparticles,Al2O3 h AIO(OH)) microparticles were examined.Comparison of different ways of modification of UHMWPE binder to obtain composites on its basis is carried out.The mechanism to explain high wear resistance of composites with high-molecular weight matrix is discussed.
