DEFORMATION CHARACTERISTIC OF METAL FOAM UNDER DIFFERENT STRAIN RATE AND TEMPERATURE
The non-uniformity of metal foam structure affect the deformation models significantly.Different sizes of metal foam have effect the mechanical properties of materials, each microscopic structure deformation models corresponds to different macro impact energyabsorption ability of metal foam.Compressive deformation behavior of a closed-cell Aluminum foam was assessed under different strain rate (0.001/s to 2000/s) and temperature(-100°C to 500 °C).High strain rate experimental have proceeded by using the Split Hopkinson Pressure Bar (SHPB),and the Quasi-static tests have conducted on the Material testing machine.Through the experiment data analyzed the influence of thermal-mechanics coupling. Its found that with the increase of the strain rate, the collapse stress and plateau stress increased. With the increase of the temperature, the plateau stress decreased. And with the increasing of the specimen size, the platform of the stress-strain curve are linearly reduced, the reason of this phenomenon are mainly influenced by the inhomogeneous of metal foam.
