A FRACTURE MECHANICS MODEL FOR AN ARBITRARILY ORIENTED CRACK IN FUNCTIONALLY GRADED MATERIALS
The general solution to an arbitrarily oriented crack in FGMs is investigated in this paper.Applying the superposition principle and Fourier integral transform method, the expressions of the displacement fields and stress fields are obtained. Then the general crack problem is turned into a group of singular integral equations by introducing auxiliary functions defined in the cracked layer. The final singular integral equations are solved by using the theory of residues and numerical method. Finally, the variation of the mixed-mode stress intensity factors (SIFs) with the crack angle is discussed.
