STRENGTHENING MECHANISMS AND YIELD STRENGTH REDUCTION OF A HOT ROLLED ENAMELING STEEL
The microstructures, strengthening mechanisms, and reasons for yield strength reduction of a hot rolled enameling steel were studied by combining experiments and thermodynamic calculations. The results show that before the enamel-fire anneal (EFA),the microstructure consists of ferrite, pearlite, and free cementite. The EFA decreases dislocation density and increases grain size and pearlite volume fraction. The main strengthening mechanisms of the enameling steel are grain size strengthening, solution strengthening, and dislocation strengthening. The dominant factors responsible for yield strength reduction are grain growth and a reduction in dislocation density.
