STRENGTHENING DESIGN FOR CARBON FIBER REINFORCED COMPOSITE LATTICE STRUCTURE
Carbon fiber reinforced composite lattice structures often buckle in ultra lightweight situation. This study developed an approach for designing lattice structures with enhanced buckling strength.Novel composite pyramidal lattice structures with wood-core trusses and hollow trusses were explored respectively. Then the strengthening mechanisms of these structures were analyzed, and compression experiments were subsequently carried out for demonstration. It was observed that Euler buckling was no longer happened again for either wood-core truss or hollow truss lattice structures. The strength of hollow truss lattice structures tested was lower than analyzed, which might be ascribed to their fabrication process.
