On the Present Situation and Improvement Methods of College English Course Grade Evaluation Management from the Perspective of Language Testing

The means of course grade evaluation is an important aspect in measuring and drawing up the quality standards for talent training. The course grade evaluation methods determine ways and means, as well as contents and process of learning, helping teacher access to teaching feedback timely and improve teaching management methods and teaching quality. Research shows that scientific language testing has become a worldwide important issue in the realm of language teaching in that it serves not only to make a correct evaluation on the language ability and foreign language teaching, but also to facilitate the implementation of foreign language teaching activities to enhance the enthusiasm of students in foreign language learning through its positive backwash effect. A survey is carried out which indicates that in the current English course grade evaluation management the summative evaluation is the most widely adopted method. There is a lack of effective monitoring in terms of the evidence adoption and evaluation and a lack of reliability, validity, and practicality of discrimination in paper design from the perspective of language testing; at the same time a series of corresponding improvement methods are put forward in the paper with the purpose to promote foreign language course grade evaluation management reform, and make it conform to process evaluation, communicative language testing and the scientific standards of language testing.
