Reform of Minerals Processing Education in the Requirements of Environmental Considerations
Environmental considerations and the sustainable development agenda are changing the mining and minerals processing industries. Preventive environmental and resource productivity strategies, or eco-efficiency (EE), are conditional for the minerals industrys ability to progress in sustainable development. While mining and minerals processing companies and mining schools generally have ignored those factors. This paper focuses on integrating the environmental literacy in minerals processing education. The critical task for mining schools is to educate environmentally literate graduates who have a solid background in one of the mineral disciplines and understand the environmental and sustainable development agendas. The implementation of environmental elements in the education will contribute to sustainable development.
