Research on Culture Introduction and Innovative Personnel Cultivation in College English Teaching
The approach presented in this paper is concerned with the innovation of the EFL (English as a foreign language) teaching model in China. As is known to all, foreign language teaching has a characteristic of intercultural humanity. Therefore, it is a common sense to introduce cultural education in College English teaching. Students who have acquired certain intercultural knowledge are likely to be personnel fit into the developing era. Besides, the necessary intercultural knowledge is helpful for students to learn and master English. This paper explores techniques on how to combine cultural instruction with College English teaching from the connotation, significance, the principles, and the methods of cultural education. The techniques explored are: making a contrast to demonstrate the cultural difference and characteristics; taking advantage of vocabulary teaching to broaden its cultural connotation; creating an English situation to lessen the negative transfer from the native culture; seizing the details in life to penetrate the cultural information; applying supplementary materials to perceive English culture; integrating the features of the time to pass on a dynamic culture.
