Analysis on Developmental Characteristics of Undergraduate Students Mental Health in Local Science and Engineering Colleges
Objective: To research developmental characteristics of students mental health in local science and engineering colleges from a development perspective.Methods: 1756 undergraduate students were selected from Henan Polytechnic University in November 2010. Investigation of psychological health condition was conducted with Symptom Checklist 90 (SCL-90). Results: (1) The majority of students have good psychological quality. The percent of students with psychological disorders was 9.23％. (2) Students psychological problems mainly concentrate in obsessive-compulsive symptoms and interpersonal sensitivity. (3) There are significant differences in students mental health between different grades, genders and professionals. Thats to say, freshman psychological health is the best; male psychological health is generally better than female; mental health of engineering students is better than that of sciences and arts students. Conclusion: mental health education should be targeted for the major issues in order to achieve better results.
