A Comparative Study of Competence Between English Major Undergraduates and Expert English Teachers

Teachers competence is an important index to appraise a teachers ability. Based on literature researches, the paper investigated the gap between English major undergraduates and expert English teachers through a questionnaire, which includes two main parts: teaching notion and research capacity. The findings are that there are three differences between English major undergraduates and expert teachers: lesson plan, teaching process, and afterclass evaluation. The following suggestions are put forwards: strengthen the professional training of English major undergraduates and the communication between English major undergraduates and expert teachers, promote English undergraduates selfreflection on teaching experience, regularly carry out advanced studies and job training, play a main role of teachers, cultivate the abilities of doing education and scientific researches.
