Preliminary Research on the Competitiveness of Industrial Small and Medium-sized Enterprises in Beijing

Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) have been accepted worldwide as the engine of economic growth to promote equitable development.The competitiveness of SMEs can be studied from many perspectives and in various aspects.In this paper, it starts from the comprehensive competitiveness of industrial small and medium-sized enterprises in Beijing and focuses on the competitiveness of industrial SMEs in region, and analysis and assessment are given from the perspective of regional economics and enterprise economics.Data used in the analysis are from statistical yearbooks.The preliminary analysis shows that the influence of industrial small and mediumsized enterprises is decreasing year by year; their operation capability is growing yearly; growing and developing capability is generally unstable with medium-sized enterprises being strengthened and small-sized enterprises being weakened continuously. In order to enhance the competitiveness of SMEs, we should build up and improve the market environment and direct SMEs to develop healthily with high profitability; we should improve the financing and credit environment to strengthen and stabilize their growing capability; and we should solidify legal system construction to fully exert the social influence of SMEs.
