The interface investigation and tribological mechanism of TiB2-TiC-Ni/TiAl/Ti Functionally Gradient Materials prepared by FAPAS Process
TiB2-TiC-Ni/TiAl/Ti functionally gradient materials were prepared by Field-activated pressure-assisted synthesis (FAPAS). Microstructure, elements distribution and phase composition of the interface were mainly investigated by SEM, EDS and OM. The results showed that the particles of TiB2-TiC composite ceramics were fine and homogeneously dispersed. The friction coefficient and wear rate of the synthesized ceramic were lower at elevated temperature and high load. The oxide films of Fe2O3, TiO2 and B2O3 formed during the friction process play an important role in the lubrication. Oxidized products greatly reduce the friction coefficient of TiB2-TiC-Ni ceramics at 400℃ or above.
