The Winter Wheat Yield Estimation based on MODIS Data
To construct mathematical model based on relationship between yield and vegetation index is the key to estimate cops production by remote sensing. Correlation analyzing was carried out to study the relationship between yield and NDVI mean in jointing, heading and filling growth stages of winter wheat. Tilling stage was selected because of highest correlation. A method based on high order nonlinear equation was proposed to estimate yield of winter wheat by using 250m resolution MODIS-NDVI data collected over tilling stage. The results showed that the relative errors of the method were predicted to be within 10%. This improvement was attributed to nonlinear but not linear relationship between the NDVI mean and winter wheat yield.
